News coverage of the mowing competition included features in the August 28 issue of the Chronicle Herald (right) and the October 2005 issue of Rural Delivery (left).

The opening paragraphs of the Chronicle Herald read:

BIBLE HILL — Her skirt billowing and her pigtails flying, Fairlight Vido romped barefoot over the competition in the Maritime Hand Mowing Championship on Saturday at the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition in Bible Hill.

To top it off, the shoeless 15-year old, from the Perth-Andover area of New Brunswick, successfully wielded her scythe in a hay-cutting contest against a gas-powered grass-trimmer operated by Truro silviculturalist Alan Clark.
